Balance in the Golf Swing
Balancein a golf swing is something that needs tobe worked on. You should try to model yourbalance on the likes of Adam Scott and LukeDonald (apparently he stands on top a medicineball, swings fully and does not fall off). Theadvice below is for a right-handed golfer.
Startby establishing a good base by having your feetshoulder-width apart.Squeezing the knees slightly in together canhelp. Try to keep your left heeldown on thebackswing, creating a resistance when you turn -as pictured in the first photo below.
Thebalance through the ball is just as important -feel like your left leg is thestanchion of your followthrough and finish (second photo above). A gooddrill is to put a coin on the top of your leftgolf shoe then make a swing and it should notfall off.
South#1 - 409/385yards (par 4/5)
Whata good hole this has matured in to. Back in theday you could see the green off the tee andsmash your tee shot over the right ditch, cutting off the left-to-right dogleg. This is nomore.
Allthe bushes and trees are fully grown on theright, with newly planted samplings to an areajust over the ditch to the right side. Threebunkers are position on the left side of thefairway, making this one of the best drivingholes at Garon Park. The best position is to aimfor the dominate silver birch(259 yards away) with your tee shot.
Thesecond shot is played into a pear-shaped greenwhich is guarded by two bunkers, one left andone right. Make sure you take one more club thanyou think. The green itself is quite friendlywith a slight uphill gradient front-to-back.Certainly one of the best holes that we have.
