We feel that Callaway Apparel shirts are one of the best you can buy. They're great quality, literally hang-dry, super value and stylish. These shirts are just £29.95 each or two for £50. You can learn more about Callaway's range on our website here.
Changing your ball position at set-up can be a benefit to ball control in your swing. Where you place the ball is up to the individual, but you can try these adjustments for certain shots...
Ball placed back towards the right shoe (pic 1) but keeping the hands in the same place will de-loft the iron and drive the ball lower (good against the wind, hitting under trees)
When driving, place the ball slightly further back in the stance to avoid the ball going to the left. A good example is teeing off on West 8 (placing the ball further forward can have the opposite effect)
Placing the ball towards the left shoe (pic 2) will increase the loft, giving you a higher flight (over trees, landing the ball softer on the green)
All tips above apply to right-hand golfers, for lefties it's the other way round.
South #4 - 140/103 yards (par-3)
A very pretty short hole with a tee shot over the water to a spectacular two-tier green with no bunkers. The fall from top of the green to the bottom is nearly four foot. A pin position on the top is like landing your ball onto a postage stamp, so be careful. But put the pin at the bottom and using the slope the shot can get rather close, a birdie beckons.
Next week we will have an extract from Head Greenkeeper George Grimes on his great work at Garon Park.
