East #3 - 165 yards (par-3)
This uphill hole plays into a green that slopes severely uphill from front to back.
Our advice is to play short of the pin and putt up the slope; going past the hole can result in very quick putt that can easily race by. There is one lone bunker to left side of hole to avoid and mounding to the right.
The yardage is perfect for this type of hole, too long would be a harsh test and shorter would ruining the green with pitchmarks.
Tip of the week
Elbows in the golf swing can cause miss hits more than you think. The old saying of lifting your head because you have topped the ball, it's actually more likely the elbows splaying through impact (pic 1). Another time they're the culprits is in the short game when they come apart, causing the club to hit the ball halfway up.
Work on maintaining the "v" shape you form at address and then swing between two points, normally known as nine and three on a clock face (pic 2). This is done with PW to carry the ball around 50 yards. A good thing to do is to hold the finish position and see how you look (pic 3).
Chris Grant on Tour
Chris played at the prestigious Grove Golf Club on Tuesday. He played pretty solid and shot a respectable five-over-par with one triple bogey. The team consisted of his dad Alex, mum Mandy and brother James. The Grove is to hold the British Masters tournament this October and it's only in Hertfordshire - so go and watch some top golfers.
Ladies Championship
The ladies played all three nines (27 holes) to compete in their Championship. The scratch and handicap trophies were both won by Sonia Mundy, really well done to her and also to Rachel Childs for achieving a hole-in-one. Congratulations to all the ladies that play in very hot conditions.
