How To Play East #7 Par 4 419 Yards
There is a small back tee on this hole which takes it to its full yardage and you are driving straight to an uphill fairway. Watch for the out of bounds to the right, and 234 yards from the tee a large bunker to the left awaits as well as a further two bunkers at 270 yards on the right , aiming just left of those is a good target.
Although the yardage suggests it's comparatively straight forward to reach in two… it's not! So for a lot of players three shots are likely to reach the green.
Players that reach in two, watch for the front left bunker and the very long green (45yards in length), correct clubbing is very important. This has always been a great hole and now it's now got better with the mound towering behind the green, giving you a lovely back drop for that approach shot.
Swing Tip Of The Week
Inconsistent chipping around the green is often linked to the right hand on the club being too " lively" causing the left hand to hinge at impact (pic1) this in turns causes the leading edge of the club to contact the ball around the equator (pic2) launching the ball through the green or even hitting the ground before the ball !
So this is only a suggestion, or you might say "a tip" ... put your right hand (pic3) more over on the grip so the line between thumb and forefinger aims to the left shoulder, this can lead to much more passive hands(pic4), if you did this with a driver it would liable to "slice" the ball so only chipping ! Have a practice and see what you think … it might be a bit of a marmite thing?
