Winter Wear Golf At Garon Park
We have been talking to you over the last couple of newsletters about the fantastic winter clothing for this season. The likes of Under Armour, FootJoy, ProQuip and Callaway are now in stock and the prices are great, especially for such high quality technical garments. With the great weather, that we are still lucky to have in Southend on Sea, you might be wondering why I am still not promoting shorts instead! But don't worry winter is coming and you definitely will not mind with this superb clothing to play in.

Winter Golf At Garon Park
One of reasons to play golf at Garon Park in the winter season is our Winter Special Packages. Starting this November and running right through to end of March 2017, they are great value for money with a choice of meals after your golf round, you can play in a two ball all the way up to larger groups. Look on our website for more details and phone Georgina or Jan on 601701 (ex3) and remember no temporary greens, all grass tees (except for renovation work) and even a buggy if it's dry enough (phone on the day!)
Favourite 18 Holes
There's till time to have a go at picking Alan's favourite eighteen holes from all three nines, remember 5-par threes, 9-par fours and 4-par fives, winner in next week's bulletin. Submit your answer here.
The takeaway of the golf swing is probably the most important part, if you consistently know your movements away from the ball the rest of the swing can fall in place for your own technique. This means the swing is not text book, some players (e.g. Jim Furyk) have very unorthodox swings, yet he shot 58 in a tournament this year. Some, like Bubba Watson, who doesn't exactly have a classic swing, but is number 7 in the world! The takeaway generally ends at the setting points of the wrists, which then creates your top position, and leads to a down swing and follow through. A good tip is to stand around 12 inches away from a wall and take the club back until it touches then make a mark there and repeat the take back again and see if it the swing hits the same spot, if it does.. Good! If not .. More practise!!
