Why You Need To Be Fit
Why customising your irons could be the best investment you ever make
In any stick-hits-ball game, your success depends on how efficiently you can wield that stick. Take baseball. In America, they sell bats grouped by weight, length and handle size. Golf, though, is different. Clubs are generally produced to a standard spec. The trouble is, not many humans are. Nick Faldo estimates 98% of club golfers are using clubs ill-suited to their height, strength and build.
Nowhere is this more of an issue than with irons. Your power, strike quality and accuracy are all compromised by an ill-fitting set.
The right shaft creates distance and penetration by allowing your swing speed to create powerful flex. Its weight also influences your ability to build club head speed.
The right lie angle - the angle between the sole and shaft - means the club meets the ball with the sole flush against the ground. If your lies are wrong the heel or the toe will snag, twisting the face.
The right grip thickness puts the club in the correct portion of the hands, allowing your wrists to hinge and create powerful leverage.
These are just three elements of an irons fit. Get them wrong and you are doomed before you start; but book a fitting session with us and you're giving yourself your best chance of a successful shot. It's quick, easy and inexpensive - and it'll save you a stack of shots.

Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.
Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.
We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.
